Wil Love

Wil Love has been involved in theatre since his first speaking role in 1959 (the Stagemanager in OUR TOWN) and has over 250 professional stage credits. He was a paid acting fellow from 1965-1969 at the Hilberry Classic Repertory Theatre and earned his Master's degree and began work on a Ph.D. After leaving Wayne State University, he went directly to Seattle Repertory Theatre as a resident company member. From Seattle, he went to Baltimore's Center Stage in 1970 as a resident member of their acting company. He remained with the Center Stage company for three seasons. In 1973, he joined the resident acting company of the Loretto-Hilton Repertory Theatre (now the St. Louis Repertory). He remained as a resident actor for six seasons. Other regional theatres include Actors Theatre of Louisville, Detroit's Meadow Brook Theatre, Buffalo Arena Stage, Syracuse Stage, and Philadelphia's Walnut Street Theatre (Barrymore nomination for CABARET). In addition, he has toured nationally twice with Jean Stapleton in DAISY MAYME and THE SHOW-OFF, both directed by the late William H. Putch.

In 1971, he became a resident actor at Pennsylvania's Totem Pole Playhouse and will be performing and directing in his 36th consecutive season there this summer. Since 1985, he has been Associate Artistic Director and has directed 35 productions at Totem Pole as well as acting in 135 productions.

In 1987, he began playing Ebenezer Scrooge in A CHRISTMAS CAROL, co-adapted with Carl Schurr, Producing Artistic Director of Totem Pole Playhouse, and will be performing again this December at the Capitol Theatre in Chambersburg, Pa. He has also played the role for Actors Theatre of Louisville in their 2001 production.

His television credits include HBO's Emmy winning made-for-television movie "Something The Lord Made," "Homicide: Life on the Street (episode entitled "A Case of Do or Die"), New York State PBS production of "Trifles," Maryland State PBS New Playwright Series productions of "Mister Magister" (title role) and the musical "Once Upon A War," numerous sketches for the live comedy show,
"Crabs," and many appearances in comedy sketches for "Consumer Survival Kit."

He was born in Missouri, grew up in Kansas and, when not in Pennsylvania, resides in Baltimore, Maryland. He is an avid antique car lover and hopes to win the lottery so that he can buy one.
